Summary: To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Joy Division's debut studio album, "Unknown Pleasures," this limited edition red vinyl LP was released on June 14, 2019. The LP is pressed on 180g ruby red vinyl and features an alternative white sleeve designed by artist Peter Saville, using a data plot of signals from a radio pulsar. The album was recorded and mixed over three successive weekends at Stockport's Strawberry Studios in April 1979, with producer Martin Hannett contributing a number of unconventional recording techniques to the group's sound. 30,000 copies released worldwide in textured sleeve with pulsar plots in black on white background. Pulsar in black on white on side A (Outside) label and white on black on side B (Inside) label. The ruby red vinyl is translucent. This 40th-anniversary reissue charted at number 5 in the UK Albums Chart when it was released.
