Here we have a FABULOUSOUTSTANDING and ONE OF A KIND ORIGINAL VERY HANDSOME Antique 1800's SOLID WOOD (on the reddish side in color but I do not know what kind of wood) 2 door cabinet with INTRICATELY INSET INLAID SILVER METAL DESIGN WITH DETAILED FLOWERS AND LEAVES! The wood grain is just FANTASTIC!  It also has inlaid key ovals on each door. The right facing door has a real keyhole and lock which at one time had a key but was not with the cabinet, and the other has a picture on the metal. The doors stay closed without being locked. The INLAID SILVER METAL has GORGEOUS DETAILED flowers, mostly roses and EACH flower and leaf and EVEN THE STEMS are painstakingly INLAID INTO THE WOOD! I can't even imagine how LABOR INTENSIVE it was to do this! The center of each door has a large plaque which is 6 3/8" by 2 7/8" wide and the both have an inner inlaid silver metal piece with flowers and leaves as well! There is a 5/8" wide ORNATE dark wood detailed border around the top and the bottom. (not in the back) The top is flat and has 2 strong hooks to hang the cabinet with and at the front on top has 2 small holes that are 1/2" deep. I don't know what they were for but possibly some other piece was once there.  When hung you really cannot see the holes.  If I had kept it I would put a cute ceramic or other decorative knick knack on the top as it would look ADORABLE! The cabinet measures 21" tall, (hooks are another 1/2") 12 3/4" wide, 5 1/2" deep. Inside there are 12 drawers that each measure nearly 3 5/8" long (plus the wood knobs which measure another 3/8") by nearly 2 1/2" wide and they are 1 7/8" tall.  There are 4 tall cubby holes and above the drawers are 4 cubby holes the same size as the little drawers fit into. (I don't know if there ever was 4 drawers for them or they were supposed to be this way but they seem to be a little larger than the ones with the drawers) The doors are over 5/8" thick! The bottom has a separate attached wood piece that GRACEFULLY curves to a rectangle with a round wood, raised piece in the middle. The back is wood with chipped black paint. This is a ONE OF A KIND piece and you will get MANY COMPLIMENTS on it as it is just FANTASTIC!

Condition is good for something this old but it does have a few problems. There are small cracks in the wood at the bottom and top of the doors (please see photos and I have additional photos so if you need more please message me and I will send them) The worse crack is 2" long and is on the top near where it would hang on the wall. When on the wall you of course, would not see it at all.  There is one place on the lower right facing curved part (which curves to a rectangle) and the missing piece is on the right facing side high and near the wall and it measures 1/2" by 1/4" but has been touched up and does not really show. (please see last photo) The doors do not close properly as they are a little warped but as I mentioned, they do stay closed and you pull out the right facing one with the long piece of wood on top both doors. There are little dings here and there but it is not uncommon to find them in something so old as people USED their things over 100 years ago!! But all in all this is a VERY RARE piece!  It is the PERFECT SIZE, not too large and not too small to grace many places in your home on the wall and can be used for many different things these days!!         dwnstrs bk rm
