This is freshwater driftwood, from a lake not the sea. It is ancient bogwood from a remote part of northern Scotland. This piece and others like it, have spent countless years preserved under peatbog, ... Rivers wash it into the lakes and winter storms give it its smooth finish. The pieces that I gather from the lake are typically a dark rich colour, however pieces that I collect from the shore have often been bleached by sun and wind to a pale silver.

These pieces have not been treated with anything, but have taken several months to dry thoroughly.... Im told the color can be preserved with wax, but have not tried this myself.

People buy my wood for a variety of uses...including, craft projects, art and floristry, Vivariums and displays. some pieces are beautiful ornamental sculptures in their own right. 

The wood is mostly caledonian red pine, making it unsuitable for fishtanks I'm told. I do find rowan and oak as well.

If someone buys more than one piece I will do my best to combine postage, provided you let me know before I pack them.

This piece  is a  character  log ,  natural wood .. streaky red with a perfect  eye ..it looks like a bird... It weighs  0.6 kilos and measures 40 cms.  ..
