You are invited to bid on a vintage collection of 7 sets of salt & pepper shakers. These shakers are all stamped either SILVER 950, STERLING, or STERLING 950. Each set includes its own original wooden box.

This beautiful collection includes:

• A pair of sandals that are stamped SILVER 950. They are 1 3/4” long, 1 1/8” wide, and 5/8” tall. Together they weigh 37.95 grams.
• A pair of Abacas with moveable parts. They are stamped STERLING on the fill doors. Together they weigh a total of 70.35 grams.
• A pair of Japanese shamisen complete with strings. They ate stamped STERLING 950 on the back. Together they weigh a total of 38.00 grams.  The box these are in have a message hand written on the top of the box. It reads, 1st. Item of collection Xmas Day 1949 Tokyo from Mother.
• A pair of Shichiran (mint beer) bottles with hand etched decoration. Each is 2 3/4” tall, 1” wide, and 1/4” deep. They are marked Silver 950 on the back. The. Box also has a paper on the back that possibly gives the store name as Asahi Shoten of Yokohama.
• A pair of buckets with removable bottoms for filling. They are stamped on the base SILVER 950. Together they weigh 47.58 grams.
• A pair of hand fans hand etched with decoration. Looks like a possible artist signature in the upper left corner of the etching. These pieces are stamped Sterling 950. They are 2 3/4” long, 1 3/4” wide, and 5/16” deep. Total weight is 51.00 grams.
• A vey unique salt well and pepper shaker combination in a Hibachi glass lined salt well with scoop and a pepper shaker in the form of a tea pot. The Hibachi is stamped STERLING 950 on the bottom. 

PROVENANCE: A Captain in the U.S. Army Military Police and his family lived in Japan where he was assigned during the occupation following WWII. He was there from 1949 till early 1951. During that time they purchased many nice Japanese items that they returned home with. These salt & pepper sets are some of those items.  I acquired these when their daughter was downsizing their estate.
