COLLECTORLINKS...ALWAYS ON THE LOOKOUT

FOR WHAT OTHERS ARE LOOKING FOR

Antique and vintage items often make nicer than new gifts

ITEM

If you like Art Deco style, this milk jug and sugar bowl definitely have the 'look'.

They feature simple, clean design lines created out of British Chrome Plate, with orange and white Bakelite handles adding an Art Deco finishing touch.

Both carry the same back stamp, confirming their Chrome Plate pedigree, but we have not been able to determine the maker from that information or the date of production. Their stunning style is very definitely Art Deco and they were clearly manufactured in the Mid 20th Century...possibly the late 1930s, but more likely in the 1940s or early 1950s in the cross-over period between Art Deco and the new design ideas of the 1960s.

CONDITION

This charming vintage duo are likely to be 70+ years old and have survived well. The Chrome remains in excellent condition, with just superficial age and use related surface scratches here and there and only visible under close scrutiny. The exception is on the base of each, which shows some discolouration around the rim (see images).

Please note that the jug and sugar bowl both enjoy a shiny all-over chromium 'look' and the images are a little misleading (i.e. the main body of each piece looks less shiny because it is picking up a reflection from what it is standing on.)

PRICING

Whenever possible our asking prices are based on either our knowledge of the genre or on what similar pieces have been sold for on the international market, rather than what some sellers are asking, which are usually two very different things! We always try to be sensible rather than greedy.

You will normally find that our prices sit somewhere in the middle between auction and professional dealer prices and the current market. We are always willing to consider realistic offers.

SHIPPING

We have a 100pc success rate for over a decade in successfully shipping fragile antiques and collectables across the UK and the wider World. We only charge what the Post Office and couriers charge us and subsidise the cost of packing materials.

International shipping? Since Covid, we have used Ebay's Global Shipping Programme for heavier items because it has proved to be competitive and reliable. However, the combined weight of the jug and bowl is low enough for us to use the Royal Mail's tracked Airmail service and our shipping charge is based on this.
