PROTOTYPE/HISTORY In the early 1960s, the British Transport Commission (BTC) planned to remove steam locomotives from the British Rail network by 1968. This would require many new locomotives to replace existing steam engines, the first being the Class 46. During the building of these, it was realised that a larger number of locomotives would be required. The final 20 contracted Class 46 locomotives we cancelled and a new tender was put out. The first twenty locomotives were fitted with Westinghouse brakes, with the remainder built with Metcalfe-Oerlikon brake systems. Based on the success of the prototype another order of 270 locomotives was made, revised upwards to the final total of 512. 310 of these were built at Brush in Loughborough, with the remainder built by the BR Crewe Works. The new tender was given to Brush with the requisite of the parts from the cancelled Class 46 to be used and the Class 47 was born. The Class 47 were used across the whole British Rail network, in both passenger and freight roles. Most 47s were built with steam heating which was later replaced with electric. Eighty-one were built for freight-only duties with no heating and were fitted with slow speed control while twenty-two had dual or just electric heating and were used for passenger, parcels, and mail trains. IMPORTANT INFORMATION

ITEM DESCRIPTION

We make every effort to describe items accurately, however, nobody is perfect and on the odd occasion we may miss something. If you see anything which is incorrect in this listing, or wish to double check something, please feel free to ask a question.

We include pictures of detailing packs, instructions and boxes etc if they are present and included in the price, if they are not in the photo's, you can safely assume they are not there. If in doubt, please ask and we will confirm.

The photographs are also part of the listing, please review them carefully.

COMBINED SHIPPING FOR MULTIPLE ITEMS

We will always try to combine the shipping for multiple items provided the orders are placed on the same day. It may not be possible to combine the shipping in every case, particularly where one or more of the items is large, heavy, and/or an awkward shape.

If you are buying multiple items, please allow us to amend the shipping BEFORE you pay. You can do this by selecting the Request Total button during Checkout (this works only when using the E-Bay Website, it does not appear on the mobile app for phones and tablets). If you pay multiple amounts of shipping, and/or make multiple payments, then the combined shipping refund you will receive will be a bit lower. This is because additional seller fees are taken from the amount initially paid, and those have to be recovered from the combined shipping refund you get.

INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS

We are happy to ship to most International destinations, if the listing returns a shipping cost for your location, then we can ship to you.

SHIPPING COSTS

The shipping costs cover the cost of the courier, the box and packaging. We do not make a profit on shipping.

We only use tracked methods of shipping with proper insurance cover.

Items can only be shipped to the address you give on the order, the address cannot be changed after the order has been placed.

Please note that the shipping costs for International destinations does not include customs or other applicable duties, these are the responsibility of the buyer.

POST-SALE ISSUES

If you receive an item which is not in accordance with the listing, please get in touch BEFORE leaving feedback or opening a return.

We appreciate the opportunity to remedy a problem, and some issues can be resolved without returning the item, but if an E-Bay return is opened, then the items will have to be returned.

Resorting to bad feedback without giving us the opportunity to address the issue helps nobody.
