Antique Griswold No. 8 Lid Only Large Slant Logo Erie 2551 A Restored - RARE!

See pictures to verify condition!

This is a Griswold lid that was produced with the large slant logo but without the EPU (Erie, PA USA). There are mold defects present and can be seen in the pictures.

Sadly, small cracks were found while taking pictures. The most noticeable cracks are in the handle, one about 3/8" fron the center and the other about 5/8" from the other side of the center. There is also a hairline crack that extends from the second "E" in "ERIE" around the left of the handle point on the lower right side of the logo, then curving towards the rim but not reaching it in either direction. It also appears to branch off through the "D" in the logo. The crack is barely noticeable but present on both sides. This shows up in the close-up pictures. A careful inspection revealed no other cracks.

When struck on the rim with a knuckle, the lid gives a clear, resonating ring. When struck near the crack, a definite click can be heard.

Still, it survives and will for a long time if cared for properly.
