Handsome and Stately Mahogany  Governor Winthrope Style Secretary Desk. 

Family Piece, dating from late 1930's to early 1940's, from a nonsmoking family.

No tag, but dimensions are identical to Maddox Secretary Desk.


Solid mahogany, except serpentine drawer fronts are veneer. Original finish.


This is a great piece of furniture, heavy weight, quality construction, with beautiful details.  


4 locking drawers, locking pull down desk front, and locking bookcase.  

All locks are in good working order, and have the original key.  

Original brass hardware.


80 inches tall,  32.5 inches wide, by 16 inches deep.

Desk folds out to 18 x 20 inch writing surface.

Desk has 6 slots measuring  7 x  2.75 inches, and vary from 7-9 inches deep.  There are 3 drawers on the bottom, 2 hidden vertical drawers, and one cubby with a door.  The inside of the cubby measures 6 x 5.5 x 7 inches.  The desk locks closed.


Bookcase top measures 27.5 inches wide x 27 inches tall by 7.75 inches deep.  There are 2 adjustable shelves.  The glass doors lock.


4 bottom drawers measure 26 inches by 15 by 3.5.  All lock.


There is wear to the finish on the feet.  There are 2 dings on the bookcase front, but these are small.  There is one ding to the back.  There is wear to the front right side.  There is a replacement bottom board in the bottom of the drawer area.  See pics.
