Hard-to-Find Pre-War Uranium Version

The B-75 was made from 1940 to 1949 and was one of Aladdin’s most popular designs. The pre-war uranium Alacite version was made in 1940-1943 and far fewer were made than the post war version made in 1044-1949 that did not contain uranium.

From The Authoritative “TeriAnn's Guide to Aladdin”:

“Alacite was originally formulated to look like the lamp was made from old Ivory. The original formula for Alacite included uranium oxide as a white pigment. Lamps using the original formula fluoresce when exposed to a black light. Early in WWII uranium became a restricted war material and the formula was changed. The formula was never changed back after WWII.  Thus, only the first three years of production used uranium oxide. Collectors to prize "old formula" lamps over "new formula lamps" once again because there are fewer in existence.

Glass Condition

Glass is as perfect as Aladdins get. No chips, cracks, roughness, or other damage. No straw marks, inclusions or other “s made” defects. Has the ivory color of the pre-war formular with uranium oxide as compared to the “white-as-a-sheet” post-wat formula.

The exterior glass is sparkling clean and shiny. The oil font bowl is perfectly clean. There is no kerosene residue or even a speck of dirt. Has \ none of the usual roughness on the mold parting line of the base rim.

Burner Collar, Fill Cap and Cap Threads Condition

Burner collar threads re perfect and I tested them with a burner.

Has period-correct fill cap in good shiny condition that screws on and off easily. Cap threads are good.

Model B Burner Included

Model B burner is highly polished, and includes burner body, gallery, Outer wick tube, and wick raiser but no flame spreader. Gallery top has signs of age and wear.

Authenticity Tests

The pre-war B 75 fluoresces bright yellow green under UV light. The subsequent model years of B-75 do not. this is because the pre-war model contained uranium oxide. However, during the war, uranium was restricted to military use and Aladdin never made the original formula again.

The pre-war B-75  glass color is a slightly beige color to emulate ivory as compared with the later B-75s, which are bright white. if you place them side-by-side, the color difference is obvious.
