In this listing we are offering an interesting & visually pleasing selection of two (four piece) tin penny toy train plus a penny toy train engine & a mis-matched penny to train car component pieces. Ten pieces total are offered in this listing which is comprised of two complete four piece train sets & two additional mis-matched pieces for other penny toy train sets. These two penny toy trains & two component pieces range in date from circa 1910-1930's.

The first train which is #1. shown in the photos is a train engine with integral coal car which has three matching passenger cars behind it. This is a complete four piece set as issued. This example dates circa 1910-1920's. One of the passenger cars is marked on the side "Third Class". The train engine is marked on the sides "Made In Japan". The total length of this matching set is 8 1/8 inches. The train engine is missing one of the two wheeled sections under the center. This example shows some wear from use, some oxidation from age, some surface rust, & some bends. The stack as well as a few tabs to connect the cars are bent. These could easily be corrected by someone not as much of a klutz as me. So, I have chosen to leave these penny toys as found.

The second train which is #2. shown in the photos has a train engine with an integral coal car. This example dates circa 1910-1920's. Behind the train engine there are three matching cars. One is a freight car, one is a passenger car, & one is a "Post Car". The total length of this matched set is 8 inches. The train engine which has a maker's mark of "K" on the back of the coal car & is marked "Made In Japan" on the sides is 1 9/16 inches tall. The cars are 7/8 of an inch tall. The colors are bright & vivid. There is only very minor amount of oxidation toning & there are a few tiny bends here & there. The front section of the train is lifting up from the tabs & needs to be adjusted. All tabs are present & this could easily be corrected. We have chosen to offer just as we found it.

The third train is #3. in the photos & has a train engine with integral coal car. The train engine which dates circa 1910-1920's is marked "Made In Japan" on the sides. Behind the train engine is one passenger car. The passenger car which dates circa 1930's is from a different set than the engine. So, these two pieces are mis-matched. The total length of the two pieces is 6 1/2 inches. The train engine, which is missing one set of two wheels, is 1 7/16 inches tall. The engine has some bends, the tabs on the roof need to be tightened, there is some oxidation from age, & a bit of light surface rust. The passenger car litho does not match the look & age of the engine litho. The 1930's passenger car is 1 inch tall by 3 1/8 inches long.

The total weight of the 10 components offered in this lot is 3.7 ounces. A fascinating little penny toy grouping fresh out of a Lancaster County, Pa. estate.
