The Cake's debut work is a premier item for girl group mania!
Among the girl groups that emerged in the 1960s, this trio called The Cake exuded a unique mood.
Although they did not have any hit songs that entered the US Hot 100, they released two albums in 1967 and 1968, which was a rare case at the time.
Cake’s debut single, “Baby That’s Me,” was co-written by Jack Nitsche and Jackie DeShannon, and was originally sung on the album by Leslie Gore.
Malcolm Rebennack, who plays piano, organ, and guitar on Hon First (1967), is Dr. John.
From Spector style to R&B style, this is an album that I would like to recommend as a hidden masterpiece of girl pop.
