79 pages of entries plus 13 pieces of ephemera.

This is an antique ledger. For the most accurate description of condition, please study the photos.

My Notes:

'The Highway Garage' in Wadsworth, Nevada.

First entry dated 1927.

The book itself is a late 19th century 400 page ledger that shows considerable wear.

Full leather binding cracked at front hinge

Rear hinge starting

Front cover shows heavy soiling, damage and loss.

It may have been exposed to fire or stored too close to a heat source.

The leather has shrunk considerably in the affected area.

There was a black label on the front that has been obliterated.

I can make out 'NEV' but nothing else.

Marbled end sheets taped at joints

Contents good or better.

Legible manuscript.

Names of many Nevada companies listed.

Entries have a wide range

"Nevada Auto Supply"

"1 Ford Wheel"

Many others....

All marbled edges show wear.

Ephemera includes:

Personal letter dated 1942 discussing sailors.

Hand priced '1931 Coupe'.

Nevada Packing Company addressed to The Highway Garage.

There is a bounced check from one of the proprietors.

The Highway Garage also offered 'Cabins'.

As noted by both the modern note and a 1931 note discussing a the belongings of a tenant at Cabin No. 6.

Shell Company received note dated 1929.

Unique piece of Nevada History.

Nevada History, and Automobile / Early Gas & Oil History.

Picture driving a 1931 Coupe from the Highway Garage near Pyramid Lake to Lake Tahoe!

As it was, in the thirties many people had cars that were a decade or two older than the newest model. At the Highway Garage they would have seen, maintained and sold some of the earliest models. All while maintaining this cash book!
