This charmer dates from the 1960's-70's and is hand carved from linden wood.  Measuring 12 3/4" tall x 5" wide on its 1 1/4" x 3" x 3 3/4" integral base, he appears to be a medieval night watchman with lantern raising a call on his oversized horn.  It is signed on the back of the base with a conjoined H D.  Overall, the figure presents beatifully with original dry stained finish.  There have been glue repairs: you will note glue at the wrist of the hand raising the horn and the ball atop his hat has been re-attached.
