On the Player - Born in 1937, Orlando Manuel Cepeda was a first baseman for various teams including the San Francisco Giants (1958–1966), St. Louis Cardinals (1966–1968), Atlanta Braves (1969–1972), Oakland Athletics (1972), Boston Red Sox (1973), and Kansas City Royals (1974). Earning the distinction of a 7-time All-Star, Cepeda showcased remarkable consistency as a power hitter in the National League throughout the 1960s. His career kicked off with the Giants in their inaugural season in San Francisco, where he claimed the NL Rookie of the Year title unanimously in 1958. This achievement followed an impressive season where he boasted a .312 batting average, 25 home runs, 96 runs batted in, and led the NL with 38 doubles. In 1959, he became the first Puerto Rican player to start in an All-Star Game. Additionally, in 1961, he narrowly missed out on the NL Most Valuable Player award, finishing as the runner-up after leading the league with 46 home runs and 142 RBIs.  Cepeda's illustrious career led to his induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1999.
