- Antique Portrait of a man in a wooden frame.
- We have no knowledge in art or paintings (if that's what this is) I'll tell you what I see and what I think things are, If you have questions or can correct me, please let me know. We always enjoy learning new things.
- Frame is wood and I think is covered in gesso and worn gold leaf. It measure approximately 8 3/4" x 8" by 1 3/4" deep. There are imperfections and wear on the frame. Hardly any gold color is left or visible.
- The portrait inside is very dark. May be even a little darker than what my pictures show. (sometimes my phone takes better pictures that what the item actually looks like..,it brightens things up sometimes.) I don't know if this is an oil painting or what the portrait is made of. It is ripped and has holes. I think it's some sort of paper wrapped with a thin material of some sort around the edges. The paper on the back with the tears, matches the tears on the inside of the photo. It looks like the paper on the back is very thin and the portrait is under that on another thin type of paper or cardboard. I don't know how else to describe it. It is able to be lifted up off of the top two nails and you can peek inside.
- Glass is loose in the frame
- It was hard to take pictures of the portrait because of the glare of the glass. Please refer to all pictures.
- We buy most of our pieces at auctions, flea markets & yard sales so we may not know the history of the item. We are not antique dealers, collectors or experts. We describe the item along with any flaws and markings we can find the best we can.
