Cats keep fortune awa
Empire News Reporter MRS. SALLY STIGWOOD (56) should have fortune all sewn up. the trouble is. a But CATS.
She has invented a comfortable fireside chair which any house- wife can switch into a sewing machine in 15 seconds. Since she showed it on TV's
Inventors' Club. scores of orders have poured into her home in Albert-street, Oldham.
But she can't afford to market it because she spends so much money on looking after stray cats.
A dozen
Sally's home became a private hotel for cats the night she picked up a stray. Word spread in the neighbourhood. Children took more cats for her to look after.
Sally always advertises to try to find the owners. If her telephone doesn't ring the cats stay on as residents. She has a dozen at the
moment. Sometimes she has a score. They cost her more than £5 a week. "If I saved that cash I could soon market the invention.
But I couldn't turn the cats away;"
she said.
