Thetford Pulpware was a distinctive patented papier-mache like local product formed from recycled jute bagging and wood pulp.

Founded in 1879, the company continued producing pulpware until the 1950s.

Pulpware was a popular alternative to the more expensive china or enamel ware, wood pulp was shaped, dried and then finished with linseed oil, and a variety of paints and lacquers to waterproof it.
