This is a good example of a Victorian chemisette.  It is made of  fine cotton with the yoke in crocheted lace  and this is outlined in a very fine row of feather stitch.  It has small mother of pearl buttons to fasten it down the back, a drawstring at the waist. and a silk ribbon at the neck, which is a replacement.  It has short sleeves trimmed with an attractive crocheted flower edging.

This is a decorative garment, very typical of the period. and very wearable in  the summer today.
