V5.15b Advantages: All metal card holder, read SD card is smoother and more stable.

GDEMU is an SD card based replacement for the optical drive in a Dreamcast console. GD-ROM / CD-ROM drives inevitably wear out and fail – as do all mechanical devices – and since the console is no longer being manufactured it’s nearly impossible to source spare parts. This project was meant to provide a “once and for all” solution, since it doesn’t have any moving parts.

The new GDEMU Optical Drive simulation board, get rid of the optical drive sawing sound, and read faster. GDEMU installation is simple, the original optical drive can be removed and replaced with GDEMU, no soldering, no modification to the machine board.

FEATURES:

- 100% compatibility with existing software

- No need for custom BIOS or other modifications

- Full support for CD Digital Audio

- Considerably faster loading times

GDEMU is compatible with VA1 model Dreamcasts from all regions

IMPORTANT: VA2 model is not compatible. Installing GDEMU with VA0 model mainboard is possible but will cause permanent damage to the device.

The firmware cannot be updated, in any case it is not necessary to update the unit since it already has the latest firmware installed.

Memory card recommendation: Toshiba, SanDisk, Kingston have high compatibility, and the card needs to be formatted into a FAT32 file system before use. It is recommended to use 32GB memory card, up to 512GB.

All GDEMU units will be tested before dispatch to make sure they function properly.
