Just inside the entrance to the CHURCH of the HOLY SEPULCHRE, is the STONE of UNCTION, which tradition holds to be where Jesus's body was prepared for burial byJosepg of Arimathea, though this tradition is only attested since the crusader era, and the present stone was only added in the 1810 reconstruction. The lamps that hang over the Stone of Unction, adorned with cross-bearing chain links, are contributed by Armenians, Copts, Greeks and Latins.

Similar Roberts prints from various early editions 1844-55 etc - some sepia, some hand tinted, some subsequently hand-coloured many years later, etc - will fetch from $200 to $1200 on the print marketplace, depending on the degree of tinting, colouring, and or various minor defects such as toning, tears etc. The total size of this print has been somewhat trimmed many decades ago, but this print is IMMACULATE with no spots, blemishes, tears, toning, etc, and adequate margins for adequate framing, with only the bottom margin about 1" from the image - see size above, and our selling price reflects that, but nevertheless, is a true LIQUIDATION PRICE, that has no equal anywhere on the internet, for the quality provided, and we offer a   COMPLETE MONEY BACK GUARANTEE if our description does not match the item you receive. David Roberts RA (1796 - 1864) was a Scottish painter, especially known for a prolific series of detailed lithograph prints from the book The Holy Land, Idumea, Arabia, Egypt and Nubia, which he produced during the 1840s from sketches he made during long tours of the region from 1838 to1840. After more than 180 years his prints are still the most beloved & popular of The Holy Land and Egypt, & are highly sought after by collectors.
