During the winter months, our bees are sustained with their own provisions of honey and bee bread. At NO POINT do we introduce any artificial additives or supplements to the production of honey.
Such practices are categorically unacceptable and utterly intolerable within our beekeeping ethos. We remain unwavering in our commitment to preserving the natural integrity of our bees' habitat and ensuring their well-being without compromise.
Pure Buckwheat Honey - Unfiltered, Unheated, Unpasteurized 1- 1.5 kg bucket.
We're a family running a honey business, offering only raw honey collected from the blooming plants in Lithuania's North-eastern region, surrounded by endless wild forests and meadows.
The honey harvested in 2023 comes from 10 apiaries located in different spots where plants like rapeseed, dandelion, fruit trees, wild berries, buckwheat, heather, and various forest flora flourish.
Our honey is unique, and each jar is a little surprise with variations in taste and colour.

Biochemical properties, antibacterial and cellular antioxidant activities of buckwheat honey in comparison to manuka honey:
The study comparing the biochemical properties of buckwheat honey and manuka honey found that buckwheat honey has higher levels of sugars, proteins, and total phenols but a lower content of methylglyoxal (MGO) compared to manuka honey. Both types of honey contain a variety of essential minerals, with buckwheat honey showing higher levels of iron, manganese, and zinc. Dominant phenolic compounds in buckwheat honey include p-hydroxybenzoic acid, chlorogenic acid, and p-coumaric acid.
Both buckwheat and manuka honeys show effective antibacterial activities against pathogens like Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. However, buckwheat honey's cellular antioxidant activity is found to be higher than that of manuka honey. These properties suggest that buckwheat honey has substantial nutritional and commercial potential due to its health-promoting components and biological activities (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29478537/).
Our buckwheat honey has a strong flavour, characteristic colour, pungent taste and aroma of molasses. It typically has a deep, dark colour (but sometimes lighter depending on times when pollen was collected), ranging from toffee, and dark amber. The aroma of buckwheat honey is often described as strong and pungent. It has earthy, malty, and sometimes barnyard-like undertones. The taste is often described as intense, with a rich, molasses-like sweetness. It can have a slightly bitter or sharp edge, similar to dark chocolate.
Crystallisation: Raw honey naturally undergoes crystallisation, gradually thickening and developing a grainy texture. The process varies among different honey types, showcasing unique crystalline patterns. Colour and structure changes signify the raw, unpasteurized, and unprocessed nature of the honey.
Frosting: Another characteristic of raw and unprocessed honey is frosting, appearing as small white streaks or crescents spreading on the jar's shoulder. These white areas result from tiny air bubbles trapped between the honey and the jar's side. Both frosting and crystallization are intrinsic features that do not compromise the taste or quality of the honey.
Colour Variations: It's important to understand that raw honey may exhibit differences in colour and taste from one batch to another. Honey adapts to seasonal and climatic conditions, reflecting the diverse diets of the bees.
As to benefits, honey contains antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and amino acids which contribute to beneficial properties. Recommended hydrogen peroxide, an acidic pH, and a low moisture level of honey provide antibacterial and antiseptic qualities. Natural compounds derived from the diverse array of flowers in its composition contribute to its mild antispasmodic effects, potentially calming the body and alleviating stress and tension.
Respiratory Relief: Honey is a natural solution for soothing coughs and sore throats. Its thick consistency aids in easing throat discomfort, reducing irritation, and supporting the healing of the throat lining.
Our hives are based in the pristine Lithuanian Northeast region (Rokiskis). The environment is unspoiled, the air is clean (water well suitable for swimming seasons) and well preserved. The source of honey comes from blooming buckwheat plants (the main part) and other mixtures of flora. Honey has been carefully collected and remained unfiltered, unheated, and unpasteurised, which harvest took place in summer 2023.
Storage: Ensure honey is stored in a dry place at or below room temperature, away from direct sunlight, and always secure the lid tightly.
