1977 Honda
CB400 400/4 F2
Not often
you come across an almost fifty year old motorcycle looking, running and riding
as it was back in the day. Completely original and not messed with at all.
Not loads of words required in describing this bike, the
pictures reflect the condition, this US and Canadian model 400/4 having come from Florida has never
seen a salted road. Frame, forks, exhaust, seat all good. I have owned the bike
for almost two years, now registered in the UK on age related plate.
No faded or damaged paintwork, other than the powder coated
clutch, motor and front sprocket cover which are powder coated all cycle parts are original in finish,
the inside of the tank is very clean. The original mirrors will come with the
bike.
The tyres are OK, chain and sprockets are good, the bike is
ready to ride for the spring without any work required.
Recently dealer serviced with the carbs being ultrasonically
cleaned, fresh plugs, new battery and new RHS switchgear which cost almost GBP
700.
The bike starts easily, the motor is quiet (much quieter
than the video suggests, which i think is normal) and responsive, the bike
rides and handles well selecting all gears easily with no clutch slip or
judder. No smoke, the oil light goes out within a second of pressing the start
button.
Two keys for ignition, steering lock and seat lock which
still has the original sprung lock dust cover. The original tool kit is still in
its place along with the standard cover.
Mileage is low at 8000, not guaranteed but the condition
supports the notion that it is correct. Would not take much to turn into a minter
as everything is already there and in great shape.
