This excellent 1870's-80's  is most likely British (note the black glazed ceramic castors) and features a MASSIVELY cast iron base with acanthus leaves and lions' paw feet with reeded brass column stem that conceals a telescoping brass tube.  Measuring 28" tall (46" tall when center rod with brass thumb screw is extended) x 13" across the base, it's solid Cherry top with dish edge (replacement from the 1960's) is 13" across.  The surface of the piece appears to be all original with nice old lacquer on the brass and worn bronze plate with superficial rust on the cast iron.  A quick application of light oil will remove most of the rust and reveal that over 75% of the original bronze tone finish remains.  Sturdy stands like these were essential in dark Victorian parlors and offices as well as photographer's studios to help direct the lamp light from a desired angle that produced the most effective illumination.  This stand is in good working order and the top has a pleasing antique finish with some use scratches. There are no breaks in the iron and it weighs a hefty 25 pounds before packaging.  We will ship it disassembled as pictured in two packages for safety and economy.  The listed "handling fee" is for the second package.
