Antique Italian Venetian Enamelled St George Icon Precious Coin Box

This is an Italian / Venetian collectors box, presumably for rare coins or medallions. Stamped to the underside for the retailer / maker V. de Toldo & C Venezia. The lid is mounted with a gilt copper & champleve enamel icon of St George, engraved 'Tamburlini' with a crowned'K'. Late 1800's / early 1900's.

The interior is plush & silk lined with two shallow recesses 38mm & 32mm

CONDITION the box closes securely, in good order - as per images

The overall condition is as you would expect from an object of substantial age that has been displayed/handled/used, usually over the lifetimes of several owners.
