Air Vice-Marshal W. McRae CB RAF
Bill McRae, who served as a pilot with Bomber Command and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, enjoyed a successful career with the Bank of New South Wales (later Westpac).
He also received the Legion D’Honneur, the highest decoration bestowed in France, on the 70th anniversary of the Second World War. William (Bill) Wallace McRae was born at Tullera, near Lismore, NSW, on January 14, 1913.
