Tested. I put in a AAA battery and plugged it into my computer. Screen lights up, the word MP3 dances on the screen, a rainbow of colors displays. then it shows you the menu. I didn't put any music on it to listen to it because I don't have plug in headphones anymore.
Overall great condition, still has stickers on the back, minor corrosion in battery compartment but does not effect operation because I tested it as-is, see pics
