JACQUOT LARGE JUG DESVRES French Antique Fourmaintraux-Houzel- Faience c1910

This is a rare antique French Faience Figural Jug made at the Fourmaintraux Factory in the Desvres region. This jug, pitcher or pichet, is modeled in deep relief; the hand painting, decor and glaze are very well done. It is known as a Jacquot.

The jug has a rear handle; the hat forms the spout. The jug is decorated with stylized accents, and the typical palette of Desvres, including a creamy white background decorated with light and dark blue, yellow, sage green, iron red, and black. The inside and the bottom are glazed; the foot rim is unglazed.

The underside of Jacquot Jug is marked in under glaze manganese purple with stylized FC, 48, 1647 for the style, and FRANCE; these are the marks of Charles Fourmaintraux-Houzel (1900- 1930).

The estimated date is early 20th Century, circa 1910.

This Faience Figural JACQUOT DESVRES LARGE JUG   is in very good condition, noting a ¼ in. x 1/8 in. surface chip on the left side of the collar.
