Presented is a rare, sterling silver carving or wedding cake knife made by Reed & Barton during the mid to late 1900s. This piece is in the Classic Rose pattern, which was patented in 1954. The handle is decorated with a raised, realistic rose and leaves. The blade is stainless steel. This piece has never been monogrammed.

There is a very wide and thick sterling guard on the handle, so one could assume that this is a roast or turkey knife. However the guard is so big and wide that I believe that it is more for aesthic appeal. Can be used either way, wedding cake or roast or turkey.

The handle is marked STERLING HANDLE and the blade is marked for Reed & Barton.

This piece is in great overall condition for its age.

Length: 16 1/4 inches.
