A very attractive George 3rd period mahogany satinwood banded and fan inlaid early 19th century circa 1810 desk or table box.
Of good quality, with select veneers on a mahogany carcass. It has a rich colour and original surface patina.
The top quarter veneered in figured mahogany outlined with boxwood stringing, satinwood banding and with a central inlaid oval fan motif. All sides with figured mahogany veneer and further boxwood stringing.
There is a old hand written inscription to the interior as shown.
There is no evidence the box was fitted inside, just a useful box to hold any number of items.
