This is a very nice original unrestored 1974 850cc Norton Commando in the iconic red white and blue livery, with original 8434 Miles, with steel gas tank and steel side covers, as you can see from the pictures below the paint is very original - I will explain the patina in the history of the motorcycle further in the description. From the factory it is set up as a Roadster in very nice all original trim, seat foam is soft and not hard, tires are 400 miles new Continental Classic attack, they don’t look as good as the K70 Avons but handle a million times better. This motorcycle runs very well with no smoke or leaks exactly as it should, it does not drip oil - well maybe the odd drip here and there from the chain cases after a long hot run, the transmission shifts with the familiar feel of the superb AMC gearbox and goes through all gears exactly as it should, this motorcycle starts first or second kick, as seen in the video when you know the drill, hot, cold or wet, very easily and runs great, all the electrics are in full working condition, including all lights, charging system etc. the horn is intermittent which is still better than most Commando horns, I removed the air-cleaner it has a K and N which makes it easy to deal with. These late Norton 850cc models are the best of all in my opinion, with the Superblend bearings they have a bullet proof bottom end, great breathing and sorted out later RH4 cylinder head. This motorcycle has a nice bit of torque better than the 750 in my opinion smoother and a better power band all round, and it will go as fast as you could possibly want to go on an old 50 year old machine with a top speed of over 100 MPH. This particular bike is very nice to ride very smooth and enjoyable vintage machine that is good for long and short distance rides in any weather, it's disc brakes were adequate in the day but nothing like modern motorcycle brakes they can be upgraded, are extremely good for the period but obviously not as good as modern brakes. The chrome wheel rims are still very decent for age some marks in a few places, all the bright work is decent but not perfect but again this is unrestored and not show quality motorcycle but as above it is an unrestored totally original machine looks like it has never really had a wrench on the engine very clean no turned fastener heads, a great rider with low original milage. for the most part everything is very presentable, paint is showing its age quite a bit but that’s just how I like it, but it’s not for everyone, the frame is lovely original stickers are still under the seat, original keys. there are no dents in any of the body work the paint is not perfect but I love the way this unrestored bike looks lots and lots of overly shinny ones out there, if this your thing this may not be for you but if you love an original untouched motorcycle from decades ago this might be for you. All the lenses are all correct Lucas as are turn signals, all the electrics work as they should. The exhaust is original and starting to show its age on the rear tip on one muffler as seen but no dents and very shinny for the most part. Tank has been sealed as a precaution but the stains are just on the surface, this is So.Cal rust staining not east coast and mid west rising rot it could probably mostly buffed out if desired but would need a repair - it has only stained the white the blur and red line are near perfect. Overall this bike has a great patina and in my opinion is just how you would want to have a bike that you can ride and which runs and rides great, and I am sure this bike can be ridden just as it is for years to come, or if you prefer a restored machine this is an excellent candidate as it is not far away at all. These top of the line late 850cc models are becoming harder and harder to find in any condition this is an untouched original. Please study the pictures below closely if you need to see something specific please email. This machine has current registration and a title in my name. I am just selling this excellent machine to fund other projects.

History - what I know about this motorcycle - it came from a museum in Pennsylvania to West Coast in 2008, it was sold on Ebay for $8K and went to a Japanese guy in San Juan Capistrano in So Cal, I had the print out for the listing but it got lost in an accident along with other documents (long story) at that time it was absolute mint a maybe the nicest unrestored 74 out there, he bought many motorcycles and this got pushed outside with a cover which obviously got moisture underneath and so the damp got to the paint and a few parts as you see in the photos - then a friend of mine bought it and I got it from him a couple of years ago that’s all I know, it run fantastic and looks fantastic if you ask me and I wish I could keep it but room and the amount of bike I have is getting unmanageable so something has to go. Any questions please ask bike is currently in Boulder City NV but can be delivered to So.Cal anytime I am alway there too.

This motorcycle has a clean and current CA registration and clear title in my name. Come with factory Manuals, parts book and what looks to be most of an original tool kit.
