Superb stability and low shrinkage. One of the top 20 most stable woods in the world! Grows only in the eastern United States. Catalpa needs to be kept thick to bring out its chime and quick attack. Around 0.120". Quite bright considering its weight and softness. Long sustain, I've heard people compare it to spruce. Its an amazing soundboard wood and is most often used in travel guitar because of its high stability. There are few woods a stable as Catalpa. It resists temperature and humidity changes so stays in tune longer. Here is an all Catalpa example!
