This small art deco handbag/dance bag is from the 1920s.

Measuring about 4 3/4" wide and about 5" high to top of bag, this is a small celluloid bag made from what appears to be "end of day" celluloid. Multiple swirls of brown, green and burnt orange color the out side (see photos). A green painted lotus adorns the front with a typical 1920s design.

The inside holds a beveled mirror on one side which has areas of clouding. The other side has two fabric pockets, that were used to store lipstick, powder, change - whatever you needed at a dance or event. The sides are a teal green color and measure 1" high.

A green leather fabric-backed handle (7" long) ends at the top with a metal slide and a black metal finger ring. The hinges on the bag work perfectly.

There are no cracks, scratches, or other damage to the purse.

Please review all photos as they are an important part of the description. I describe the item thoroughly noting any flaws or issues I see. I do not polish or clean antique/vintage  items to preserve integrity and limit the possibility of damage (unless requested by the customer). Contact me with any questions or for more photos.  I usually answer very quickly.
