Selling my vintage Maton George Golla GG22A

& original case.

This model was Matons top of the line archtop in the late 60s through mid 80s.

This particular guitar was selected/ordered by George Golla himself at Maton’s Melbourne factory for his jazz student, whose name & also the guitar’s name “Betsy”are still badged on the case.

I’mm “Betsy’s” third owner & my friend bought her from the original owner, Golla’s student.

The guitar is in a very good condition, please check photos closely as they form part of the description.

Please check the Maton Museum website & general web search for all specs, comparative prices etc..

Details:

Serial # 1185 (774)

Solid, carved Sitka spruce top

Flame maple back, sides

Ebony fingerboard

Rosewood bridge

Gold hardware

Maton’s own pick ups & top shelf electronics

Original finish, hardware, electronics & case, guitar is untouched since factory (beyond setups/ regular “service”).

Guitars only issue:

GG22A’s neck pick up has a “phase” switch located on the neck pick up surround. This switch has not worked since original owner, and as the pick up works well without the phase switch, neither my friend or I have bothered to address the issue.

So..in other words:

Both pick ups work well with full output, but the neck pick ups phase switch circuit & blend control not engaging..could be switch, solder join etc..cause currently unknown.

NOTE: Guitar is sold on this understanding.

Pro playing owners since new, regular set ups etc.

Neck join solid with finish intact, neck straight & true, action currently for jazz & blues.

Three factory screw holes for pick guard..pick guard included (top black laminate missing, unknown if original)..I’ve never bothered with it, guitar looks better without IMO. .please see pics.

This GG22A has minimal scratches/dings (again, please check photos).

Also some low grade player wear on the bottom of both pups, not major.

Pro set up, plays & sounds top shelf.

I will pack “nuclear proof” to help keeping costs down & ensure safe packing, however postage will only be done fully insured through Pack & Send as this is a top shelf guitar & deserves proper, safe treatment .

National freight:

I’ve quoted $400 fully insured..if less, I will refund the difference..if more, I will cover the excess.

International freight: also through Pack & Send.

Quoted $650, if less I’ll refund difference..if more, I will cover the excess.

Please check my other auctions as I’m having a major cull of the collection..some very tasty vintage bits’n pieces coming up..

Cheers
