Looking for a unique gift? How about a mystery box containing history, science, and technology?!

Unless you are interested in history and know that this is a Brunton compass, known as the Brunton Pocket Transit, it would be hard to guess what this little mystery box is. It is a replica of a precision compass originally made by Brunton, Inc. of Riverton, Wyoming. The instrument was patented in 1894 by a Canadian-born geologist named David W. Brunton

Brunton Pocket Transit is a specialized instrument used widely by those needing to make accurate navigational and slope-angle measurements in the field. Users were primarily geologists, but archaeologists, environmental engineers, mining engineers, and surveyors also make use of Brunton's capabilities. The United States Army has adopted the Pocket Transit as the M2 Compass for use by crew-served artillery.

This vintage compass makes a great nautical gift to anybody who appreciates fine things or is interested in history.

The compass comes in a beautiful Teakwood gift box.
