This cover was taken by courier from Estourmel, France to Wildenrath in Germany on the 2nd June 1977, the 60th Anniversary of the attack that led to the award of the Victoria Cross to Billy Bishop.

Edgar Percival

Australian Edgar Percival was a WW1 Fighter Pilot who served with 60 Sqn, Commanded by AVM Billy Bishop VC in France and then with 111 Sqn in Palestine. During the 1920's he operated many former WW1 aircraft in Australia and in 1931 founded Percival Aircraft, famous for the Gull, Mew Gull and Vega Gull, which built nearly 3000 proctors for military use in WW11.
