This is a signed creation by Canadian artist Yvonne Bourgault -- Sculptor & Woodcarver from Saint-Jean-Port-Joli, Quebec. 

This piece is signed in script:  ‘Y. Bourgault’ with a pen or carved with a chisel. Her carvings are rarely found signed. 

Yvonne learned to carve at the school of Medard Bourgault 

 

The Bourgault family of carvers and sculptors is well-known among collectors for reviving this craft in Quebec. 

Thanks to their work, Saint-Jean-Port-Joli now bears the name of “capital of sculpture” in Quebec.
