WE ARE CLEARING AN OLD JEWELLERS STOREROOM. ALL ITEMS ARE BEING SOLD AT CLEARANCE PRICES.

ONCE GONE THEY ARE GONE!!

With a barley and stripe finish, this stylish cigarette case would make a lovely heirloom gift. Crafted from 925 Sterling Silver it measures 8.4 x 10.2 x 1cm with a weight of 172g (5.5 ounces).

On the inside is where you will find the hallmark that shows the makers mark W & H (Walker & Hall), the lion passant confirming the fineness of the metal, the assay mark of Sheffield Assay Office and the date letter 't' for the year 1936. There is also a registered design number of 782755. The inside has been engraved with two initials but it is possible that a local jeweller could polish these out if you wished to have this done at a later date.

Walker & Hall were Sheffield based silversmiths operating from the mid-19th century. In 1963, they combined with Mappin & Webb and Elkington & Co to form British Silverware Ltd. They shut down as a manufacturer in 1973, although the brand was later revived as a retailer. This is a unique opportunity to purchase a piece of history from this prestigious brand.

The hinges and clasp are all in good condition and outside there is general wear commensurate with use and age. A fine example of British craftsmanship from a bygone age.
