Encore Fortress Maximus, as pictured. Complete with all pars including; Cerebros (large head), Spike (small head), Large and Small Master Swords, Cog with both arms, Cog's and Cerebros' small guns, Large blue single and double barrel blasters, red radar and left and right ramps.
In excellent condition, the set is the 2013 official reissue of Fortress Maximus. It is extremely difficult to tell the two apart. We have used this opportunity of taking pictures to compare each part and the differences are few and hard to spot (see last picture for a side-by-side with a vintage G1 Fort Max - there is almost no way to tell by a quick look at the picture which is which). As this may be of interest to people, some differences to note:
- On the main body, there is a little tab on the large blue leg cannon part to tab it into the back of the leg that was not on the original; trademark stamp is obviously different as well and does not include Hasbro (or Takara, is simply TOMY and marked as made in China). The Encore body is also a nice bright white, which is quite rare to find for the original as most have some colour fading over time (the comparison picture being a rare example that matches the reissue colour)
- Master sword, large version (vintage Master Swords were only included with the Japanese release) - the most obvious of the accessories, the blade can be removed / split into two parts as shown in the first picture. In addition, the trademark stamp on the handle is different
- Cerebros - eyes are imprinted on the head rather than stickers; though to confuse matters, the eye stickers were apparently included on he sticker sheet as well
- Spike - the rivets are noticeably different in style; note that there also exists a KO Spike, but that one can be identified by its slightly different chest
- Cog - stickers, including those on the arms, have some very noticeably darker colour and axels look to be very slightly different
- Ramps - stickers are again darker colour and some of the dots from the mold process look slightly different
- Light coloured small gun - texture of the handles appear to be slightly different (but noticeable)
- Darker grey small gun - dots from the mold process look different than any of the several originals we compared it against
- Large gun - there appears to be an extra mark on he underside of the barrel from the manufacturing process, have not seen this on any genuine G1 versions
- Double Barrel blaster - very hard to spot any difference, the mold marks are maybe very slightly different
- Red radar - extremely hard to tell apart. The colour may be very very slightly different or may simply have aged over time differently from the vintage ones we compared it against
- Small master sword - seems extremely difficult to find a difference.
As such, the Encore version is an excellent way to get a complete Fort Max in excellent condition at a much lower price than a vintage one.
