Exquisite Vtg Victorian Rose Fine Cotton Quilt Fabric Black & White 35" Wide BTY

Exquisite Vtg Victorian Rose Fine Cotton Quilt Fabric Black & White 35" Wide BTY

Vintage fabric. Medium weight cotton in a smooth, superfine, percale weave. Measures 35 inches from selvage to selvage and is 1 yard in length. Excellent unused condition; there are no stains, holes or rips. Some of the photographs were taken near a window or other strong light source, which may cause uneven shadows and tonal variations in the image. The actual fabric offered is even in tone, color and intensity. We aren't sure of the date of milling of this piece. At 35 inch width, it's probably somewhere in the 20s or 30s, but it has the look, quality and design of Victorian era fabrics. The details and quality in this wallpaper-style print are amazing! The print is so cleanly registered; there is absolutely no wobble or misalignment. The rose, daisies and foliage in the "frames" are lovely enough but when looking at the frames themselves one wonders just how they did it. The smallest of the daisies at top and bottom lose a few petals but are still so well defined. And the microdots backing these garlands - so crisp! The single daisies, graceful vines and pindots complete the design and really keep the eye moving.

It's pretty much impossible to find fabric of this quality today. Sure Sp**%fl(#r does nice work but they cannot produce this fine detail. Products from modern mills can be great, but they can't come close to a textile like this (okay, maybe higher end Liberty wares). With four yards available initially, someone could do something wonderful! We've included a photo with another print to show just how nicely this design plays with others (the blue, green and black piece is NOT included).
