The first bridge over Gauja was built in 1937 as a particularly complex technical structure, but was destroyed shortly afterwards during the war. The existing bridge was restored in 1950. Sigulda Gauja Bridge is the only monolithic reinforced concrete structure bridge of this solution in Latvia, which is based on three circles more than 35 metres wide. The total length of the bridge is 153 metres, while the height above the river is more than 16 metres.
