I am an embedded electronics engineer with love and interest for these beautiful portable consoles. This modded Gameboy Advance SP is the result of high quality parts sourcing and a fun weekend of modding. Starting with an authentic Nintendo GBA SP console, the motherboard and hinges are freed from the old and used shell. The motherboard and its components are then thoroughly inspected and cleaned carefully. Its surprising how well these Nintendo motherboards hold up after all those years. They are truly built to last! The new shell is then unboxed and inspected for factory faults. Same thing goes for the new IPS V2 Screen before I proceed with the assembly of the new console. With much care, the components are then fitted into the new shell and connected appropriately. Placing the refurbished motherboard into the new shell is always exciting. After closing the shell, its time to put a new LiPo battery with slightly higher capacity than the original, in place and give the brand new console a go. I always want to test something I have just worked on, so for this one I did a charge test, a discharge test as well as a user experience test by playing some games while trying different brightness and volume settings in both an indoor and an outdoor environment. This particular console is incredible and exciting. Honestly, I wouldn't be able to say it otherwise. Playing the games I used to play as a child on a GBA SP is really enjoyable and the upgrades do not take away anything from the retro experience for me. On the contrary, the bright, crisp and colourful picture of the V2 screen and the unique Glow-in-the-dark clear shell offer a fresh and enhanced experience of the eternal GBA platform that we all know and love.

** Battery is not actually 2000mAh. I thought it wasn't possible and I bought three to find out.
After testing the batteries, I measured that their actual capacity is between 800-900mAh.This
is the capacity range of all the upgraded batteries for the GBA SP on the market, so the seller
just over-sold the battery. Fortunately, it is still up to spec with all the rest. For comparison, the
original battery is only 600mAh, but the original front light panel consumes significantly less power.

Discharge time at FULL brightness (Level 10) :

* The V2 screen at this brightness level, is many times brighter than the original panel and therefore, the increased power consumption, drops the battery voltage faster. After 2 hours of sustained gameplay, the console powers off automatically, but if turned on again and used at a lower brightness level, it can go for up to 1 more hour.

The screen at FULL brightness is extremely bright. This IPS V2 model is the brightest out of all the other LCD upgrades for the GBA SP on the market. It has the best colour accuracy and vibrancy too. Very comfortable and visible, even in bright outdoor environments. The most enjoyable levels for indoor gaming, are between 4 and 7.
