Antique 19thC French Ironstone Tureen Transferware CREIL & MONTEREAU Aesthetic
This is a rare and large ironstone transferware soup tureen, made by Creil & Montereau. It has a beautiful Aesthetic movement design to it and a lovely two tone transferware design with a hunting theme in dark petrol blue and brown on a cream white background. It has two different images on the front and back of the tureen. The tureen has beautiful ornate handles and a lovely shape. This piece is marked on the bottom with thjemaker's mark and the model name 'Cartels'.
This tureen was made in France, around 1850-1880.
Dimensions:
Height: about 9 1/4 inch/ 23.5 cm
Width, with handles: about 11 1/2 inch / 29 cm
Condition: Good antique condition, considering its age. There are two chips on the inner edge of the lid, small chip on the bottom edge of the tureen which is not noticeable when displayed and a very small hairline on the bottom. Some crazing and stains to the glaze, mainly on the bottom. See the photos. *Flower in the first photo is not included.
