Presented is a unique sterling silver pin or brooch in an interesting tribal
style. The pin depicts a very stylized figure, where the body is more of a
zigzag shape with silver beaded decoration here and there, and the face is a
circular carving in a very stylized design, almost reminiscent of Hopi inlay
work but as a carving. The construction is very well done and clearly took a lot
of effort and skill on the part of the unknown artisan; the beaded decoration
does not seem to be just applied on the front surface but rather goes through to
the back, in what was surely a painstaking bit of hand done metalwork. The pin
has a rollover style clasp in the back, which is quite secure.

This piece is not stamped or hallmarked, but we have tested it with nitric
acid and guarantee it to be sterling silver.

This piece is in great condition. The carved piece for the face is securely
glued in place and has no chips, just a nice patina. The clasp functions well
and closes securely.

The pin measures about 2 3/8 long by ¾ of an inch wide.

This piece weighs 8.4 grams.
