Well used and loved MacBook Pro 17 inch (2011).

This was the last 17 inch model Apple made.

There are cosmetic scratches and dents to the enclosure (see photos). These do not impact the functionality of the computer but know that it is definitely not in pristine condition externally.

I’ve updated this laptop as much as I could as follows:

- 16GB RAM

- 512GB SSD

- replaced DVD optical drive with a secondary 300GB Intel SATA2 SSD

- replaced original display with higher resolution matte antiglare display (silver bezels)

- replaced thermal paste on CPU and AMD dGPU

- cleaned out the dust inside of the laptop and fans

- upgraded OS to MacOS Ventura using Open Core Legacy Patcher (ignore custom MacOS Sonoma wallpaper, I just think it looks better than the Ventura one)

With these upgrades this laptop is now running better than ever and is currently getting the latest security updates from Apple via Ventura.

That being said, it is a 13 year old computer so will not run everything a newer Mac would. I’ve been using it for web browsing, emails and media consumption and it has performed flawlessly.

Please be aware that there are limitations with using MacOs Ventura on an unsupported Mac. If you would like a more reliable experience then you can downgrade back to MacOS High Sierra - the last officially supported OS for this system.

I’ve had a lot of fun tinkering with this laptop and if you would like keep it going or just need a secondary computer for light tasks, this one has plenty of life left in it.
