Presented is a fantastic set of 6 Gorham sterling silver handle luncheon knives. The knives are made in the elegant Imperial Chrysanthemum pattern, which began production in 1894, and these knives date within a few years of that patent date, they have the older style Gorham marks and the old rivet style construction visible on the sides of the handles. This is an ornate pattern featuring floral decoration in the form of Chrysanthemums adorning the handle. These knives have a monogram of D in intricate Gothic lettering, something that would easily cost at least $40 a knife to have done today to much lower modern standards of engraving. The blades are silverplated carbon steel in the Old Blunt form, so the knives should be hand washed relatively promptly rather than put in a dishwasher.

This set is in great overall condition. The handles have some dings and surface wear, but no splits or serious damages. One knife blade has a chip to the end, visible in the first photograph.

Each knife is hallmarked on the collar with the old Gorham maker's mark as well as sterling and the patent date of 1894.

Each knife measures about 8 3/8 inches long.

The total weight for the set is 371 grams, or 13.1 regular ounces. Not all of this weight is sterling silver due to the filling of the handles and the carbon steel blades.
