I have personally modified this unit to make it Amiga-compatible DVD-ROM READER, CD-ROM READER drive and it works perfectly
You can see in one of the photos that the drive (and the Amiga) is capable of reading SINGLE LAYER DVDs.
It cannot read dual layer DVD discs, be aware of that. It might be a PCMCIA interface limitation, but I believe it's down to the AmigaOS. Be aware of that.

This is a premium unit, as it LOOKS ALMOST NEW.
Please have a look at this long (60+ minutes) video of it copying 650MB from a CD-R then a 1.1 GIGABYTES FILE from a DVD, which I do offline to all drives before being sold, to guarantee that they can read a FULL CD and DVD: I also show it running some demos and photos directly from the drive at the end of the video:

I've tested this drive on my unexpanded 1MB 2.04 ROM Amiga 600, on my PiStorm 3.2 ROM Amiga 600, and on my non-expanded Amiga 1200 with ROM 3.0. It works the same on all of them, booting and loading the pcmciacd.device driver from floppy or installing onto the harddrive.
I supply the Amiga PCMCIA driver on a bootable floppy disk that has Directory Opus installed, that might come in handy to install the driver to another disk. I also supply a bonus CD full of Amiga Demos (from 1996!)
The CDROM drive has been fully tested and can read Amiga CDs with no issues, even those with audio tracks (CDDA Audio will come through the headphone jack on the unit). It can also read single layer (4.2GB) DVD DISCS. This DVD drive REQUIRES an external power supply (I provide the original Sony 10V Power Supply, that works from 100 to 240V.)
All drives are clean from dust, individually tested on both my A600 and A1200, and guaranteed to work. I cannot guarantee that it will work on your particular environment because of all the differences in the Amiga world, like weak power supplies, old capacitors, some weird hardware setup that render the PCMCIA port to be unusable, but be sure that the drive will leave my house working. And I've been selling them on Facebook groups, never had any complaints.
In fact, one guy managed to even run CDTV/CD32 games on his expanded A1200. I can provide you the bootable floppy that will do the trick, but no warranties on that regard.

The drive might not work depending on your setup, depending on your ROMs, depending on your PCMCIA slot being dirty/defective, but if you watch my youtube video you'll see that the drive is working PERFECTLY. I won't accept returns based on the drive's appearance as it's a 15+ years old device, so it's natural to see some scratches here and there and I tried my best to depict them in the photos, please have a good look to all the photos and the videos!
