This is essentially a melodic death metal CD in the style of In Flames and Dark Tranquility...but they have taken some creative license with the style. They enlisted the help of a "clean" male vocalist (Eric Hawk from an older metal band, Artch). Most of the vocals are growls, but Hawk does a fair amount of singing. His style is a little theatrical in delivery, but there is no doubting that he has a good voice. His voice would be closer to the styles used in power metal. Both vocalists do a good job in getting emotion into the lyrics.

Does it work? Hell yeah, in my opinion. It is interesting to hear mixed in as long as you are open to power metal. If you only want growls, then definitely avoid this CD. Probably the main reason it works is that the songs are really catchy and memorable. It always comes down to songwriting! Great riffs and lots of energy.
