PAIR LEWIS & CLARK FIGURINES Terra Cotta- Johann Maresch Style by DEPONIRT c1880

This is a rare and very collectible of PAIR LEWIS & CLARK FIGURINES in Terra Cotta, from the Late 19th Century.

Each figurine of this pair:

- is well modeled in deep relief with very good artistic fine detail;

- depicts very lifelike features;

- stands on a round raised plinth base;

- stands in front of a hollow tree trunk;

- closely resembles the fine works of Austrian potter Johann Maresch.

This pair is exceptional- the faces, hands, and postures are very lifelike.

Man #1 man wears a fur toboggan cap and matching fur-lined cape, jacket, breeches, and boots; he sports a dagger, a pistol, and has a long rifle across his back. Man #2 wears a fedora hat with head scarf, long coat, shirt with tie, waist sash, boots, and has a rifle slung over his shoulder.

Man #2 has the seal mark DEPONIRT stamped on the underside bottom.
