In 150 years the world has changed beyond recognition. Mankind is dying out and merciless machines from long past wars dominate the picture. In this world, players take on the role of 'Monkey', a raw loner who is accompanied by the petite 'Trip', a wily techie who grew up in a peaceful commune. Both are captured by a mysterious slave ship that is rumored to be harvesting people and taking them west - though no one has returned from there yet. When Trip tries to escape, she quickly realizes that Monkey's raw power is her only hope of getting home. In order not to take any risks, she quickly hacks into a slave's headband and thus gains control over him - if Trip dies, Monkey's fate would also be sealed. From now on, her journey is also his.
