Eugene Press originally worked mainly as a commercial artist and illustrator. However, in his spare time and retirement he produced a great body of much more creative work which, apart from a handful of exhibition submissions (including the Royal Academy), has never, until now been seen in public.

Belvoir FIne Art are pleased to bring you a substantial amount of work from this reclusive artist's studio that shows great influence of Charles Mahoney and Graham Sutherland. Press was originally born at Sutton-on-Trent in 1936 and for a time studied at St Martin's Central and Northampton Art College. He also had private tuition from Sutherland, Mahoney and James Fitton. He received the RSPA Road safety Art Award in 1950 and a best art of gospel music cover award in 1980.

Exhib : R A, Woodstock Gallery; Brixton, Clapham, Sevenoaks, Folkestone, Tunbridge Wells. Works in private collections :- London, Bath & throughout Britain, Italy, France, Canada and USA.

Medium- Oils on paper


Frame- All unframed.
 

Condition- Generally good and clean, ready to hang. The largest one however has some edge tears. 


Signature- Seven are signed.
